Data Protection Policy
- Nordic Summer University needs to collect and use personal data about the members, participants and other individuals who come into contact with the organization. Those individuals (“data subjects”) have privacy rights in relation to the processing of their personal data. This policy is a statement of NSU’s commitment to protect the rights and privacy of individuals in accordance with the GDPR (EU General Data Protection Regulation).
- NSU is committed to keep personal data for purposes that are specific to its activities and in a lawful manner. Type of personal data that are processed by the NSU contains contact details (including but not limited to the first name, last name, phone/email, role in the university/other institutions, addresses), any dietary preferences or food allergies for events with catering, and photos or video footage at face-to-face or online events.
- NSU only processes personal data in a manner which is compatible with its purposes. NSU treats people fairly by using their personal data and in a way they would reasonably expect. NSU ensures that the data is not reused for a different purpose that the individual did not agree to or would reasonably expect.
- NSU takes appropriate and reasonable security measures to protect personal data from unauthorised access, unauthorised use of information, being altered, deleted or destroyed without authorisation by the data owner, disclosure to unauthorised individuals, and other unlawful forms of processing.
