The establishment of the economic fundraising foundation was supported by the General Assembly 2024 in Denmark! There, the public declaration of the foundation took place. The text of the declaration is below.

Self-organised and free academic activities are one of the founding pillars in a democratic society, but such activities are put under increasing threat in the present. Collegial self-government is furthermore determining for scientific innovation. To support activities that protect and support scientific development we, the founders – Nordic summer university via the signatories Karolina Enquist Källgren, Nicole des Bouvrie, – hereby decree that the funds that are collected after the public call on August 3rd 2024, shall be managed as an independent fortune for the promotion of the purposes stated below.

The purpose of the foundation is to support activities conducted by Nordic summer university, through the collection and management of funds. Activities within Nordic summer university can be of such a nature that they support the development of new research initiatives and promote innovative research, activities that promote multi-disciplinary and international scientific dialogue and collaboration that makes possible the participation of different social actors: such as, students, artists, activists, independent researchers and other professional groups. Other activities that can be supported are the creation of research networks and the exchange of ideas outside of academic institutions, including activities aimed at folkbildning, and activities that promote cross-sector collaborations in the establishment of new research fields.
