Circle A: The Creation of a Movement for a Free Academia
The aim of this study circle is to create a Movement for a Free Academia that can lay the foundation for future universities and an alternative academic system whose logic is based on an ethics of care and trust. It is a key priority of this study circle to explore – not just theoretically – but also physically and organizationally ways to create true academic freedom for researchers.

Content of the Summer Symposium: It is a key priority of this study circle to explore – not just theoretically – but also physically and organizationally ways to create true academic freedom for researchers. The Summer Symposium will build on the Gothenburg Manifesto (from the Spring Symposium) and the movement that has been created from there. The program contains workshops that are more focused on tangible actions and activities now and in the future.
Past events:
Spring Symposium “Amo, Ergo Cogito” at University of Gothenburg 5th – 7th of April 2024. Here we wrote a manifesto for the Movement for a Free Academia and a vision of an academic system based on an ethics of care. The manifesto was shared 15th of April.
