Grant Program: Information for Applicants

Grant Program: Information for Applicants

Please see the criteria for each below.

The application deadline is April 15. By April 18, coordinators must send to Arrkom a prioritised list of applicants.

Grants are destributed between the circles. First priority is an equal distribution; if some circles have few or none applicants they will be given to circles with more.

Criteria for Grants

Description/Eligibility

Each recipient will only pay 450 euros (including NSU membership) + their own travel costs.

Grant holders are expected to assist Arrkom with minor practical tasks.

Grants are for anyone in need of subsidy or support in order to participate, regardless of nationality/place of residence: for example, due temporary employment status, and other special circumstances, including having a low disposable income, or high travel costs when coming from the peripheral areas of the Nordic region, impaired physical fitness, family travelling with two or more children, or single parents travelling with one or more children, etc.

Requirements

For the application to be considered, applicants need to send in the following information to the coordinators of the circle to which they are applying:

  • Full name, e-mail and citizenship
  • Current employment/academic status
  • Number of NSU events attended so far (including both Winter and Summer Sessions)
  • Description of proposed presentation
  • Reasons for applying: Why should NSU give you the grant?

Priority consideration will be given to:

  • Presentation of a paper over attendance only
  • Active participation in NSU
  • Strong reasons for need. E.g. low disposable income, or high travel costs when coming from the peripheral areas of the Nordic region, being an independent scholar, impaired physical fitness, family travelling with two or more children, or single parents travelling with one or more children, etc.

Registration/Payment for Summer Session

The successful applicants should reply by email to ARRKOM and the relevant coordinator(s) stating that they accept the grant, and then confirm their acceptance by:

  • Registering for the Summer Session through the coordinator of your chosen study circle.
  • Paying via the webshop at nsuweb.org within 7 days.

All grant recipients will be emailed a discount code which they can use when they pay for their registration through the webshop.
