Excursion#1: Open Air Museum of Lithuania

Excursion includes visiting open air museum, craftsmen workshops, educational program “Exile of the Nation”, enjoying the ride with carriage and testing traditional Lithuanian kitchen in “Karčiama”.
Open Air Museum of Lithuania is a unique and one of the largest (195 ha) open-air ethnographic museums in Europe. It has the biggest quantity of exhibits (140 buildings and over 88 000 mobile exhibits). The museum presents the mode of life, works, and traditions of peasants and townspeople of all Lithuanian ethnographic areas: Dzūkija, Aukštaitija, Suvalkija, Žemaitija and Lithuania Minor. It was established in 1966, in Rumšiškės on a picturesque coast of Kaunas Lagoon. There are fragments of the villages, authentic farms, century-old buildings with flower gardens, orchards and vegetable gardens, with crosses and wooden roofed poles, technical facilities – mills, forges, a fulling-mill and oil-mill lining along 7 km circular route, meandering between forests, meadows and hills.
In the centre of the museum there is a fragment of a township with its typical buildings, where pots are shaped, amber and wood works are done and weaving process of linen is presented.

Excursion #2: Churches and Catacombs of Vilnius

Excursion includes visiting churches and catacombs in Vilnius old town.
Churches around the Old Town of Vilnius is a cultural and religious heritage for the whole Europe. Vilnius is a vibrant and beautiful city, where people from different religions can worship together or separately. In total, there are 28 churches in Vilnius Old Town elderate of various religious such as Catholicism, Protestantism, Orthodoxy and Judaism.
It is said that a large part of the Old Town of Vilnius is hidden under the earth. Time and the extending town buried the old gothic buildings. During the tour you shall see some part of Vilnius catacombs, visit the most beautiful underground halls, which remind of previous centuries.

Excursion #3. Trakai historical national park

Excursion includes walking the road of the Karaims, visiting museum in Trakai Castle, sailing with the boat on the Lake Galvė, visiting Užutrakis manor ensemble and museum.
Trakai is situated 30 kilometres away from the nation’s capital, Vilnius. Trakai Historical National Park, an outing that combines the natural beauty of several interconnected lakes with a lesson in Lithuanian history. The high point is to cross a small footbridge to the restored Gothic Island Castle that juts into Lake Galvė to see the seat of Lithuanian authority way back in the 14th century. The Trakai History Museum tells the story of the castle and features a collection of medieval weaponry. Afterwards, dawdle along the shoreline or hire a pedal boat to explore one of the lakes at your leisure.
Užutrakis manor ensemble was created in 1897-1902 by count Józef Tyszkiewicz and his wife duchess Jadwiga Swiętopułk-Czetwertyńska. The Tyszkiewicz family owned Užutrakis manor until the beginning of World War II in 1939. When the Soviet Union occupied Lithuania in 1940, Užutrakis manor was nationalized. After the war the manor became a sanatorium for soviet security officers. Later a Pioneer camp, a rest home and a national tourism company worked there. In 1995 Užutrakis manor was entrusted to Trakai Historical National Park Management.
